

Yesterday was a peak experience for the trip. I totally struggled in the morning, my body stretching slowly after back to back 20 mile days. My attitude was in the dumps until evening settled in, the winds calmed down and I found my groove. As we pushed on into darkness, the day went from an average day to a special once in a lifetime experience. The night was nothing short of wild. As we paddled through near complete darkness we watched transfixed as the bio-luminescence lit up the waters around our kayaks. In the perfectly calm water we could make out little wake lines pushing off our bows. With each paddle stroke an explosion of light would mark the disturbance made by our paddles, then slowly fade away in a faint trail behind each boat. The night grew darker when the moon set around 11:00pm and the fog slowly obscured the stars.
